In case you try to listen to any older Council meetings by agenda item (the little play button next to the agenda item), if it doesn’t work it’s because I’m currently updating the player that is used to play the mp3 files. The benefits are a cleaner, better looking player that’s more compatible with mobile devices.
If you’re a web geek, the technical explanation is I switched an older Flash-based WordPress plugin to one called WPaudio that uses HTML-5 instead of flash so iPads and iPhones can do it. The plugin doesn’t seem to be 100% compatible with this latest version of Wordprss (3.4.1), as evidenced by the playbar not showing the progress or length of the file, but it works well enough and looks a lot better than the old plugin. The only caveat is I need to go back to each link to the mp3 file and add a class tag to the html in order to engage the player for the link. I imagine the plugin may be updated to solve the visual problems, but the functionality is still there, and to me it’s always worth it to move away from Flash whenever possible. Okay, I’m going to stop typing this and go update some links.
